How much does it cost to rent a scooter in Bangkok?
At Scooter Express, rental starts at ฿300 per day for a Honda Scoopy 110, with third-party liability insurance included at no extra charge. Weekly bookings save about 15% versus the daily rate. Every price in the table above is live from our booking system — the same numbers you pay at checkout.
Do I need a license to rent a motorbike in Bangkok?
For bikes over 50cc you need your original home-country driving license AND an International Driving Permit (IDP) endorsed for motorcycles — issued under the 1949 or 1968 Geneva Convention. A home license alone is only enough for bikes 50cc and under. Thai law requires you to carry both documents while riding. Minimum age: 18 for scooters up to 125cc, 21 for 250cc+ bikes.
Is there a security deposit for renting a motorbike?
No deposit is needed to confirm an online booking — you pay at pickup. A refundable security deposit of ฿2,000 (scooters) to ฿5,000 (large bikes) is collected at pickup by cash or card hold, and returned in full at the end of the rental if the bike is on time, undamaged, and returned with a full fuel tank.
Where is the rental shop and do you deliver?
We are at Regent on the Park 3, Sukhumvit 39 — in the Phrom Phong area of central Bangkok. Pickup hours are 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM daily, including public holidays. We deliver to hotels and condos anywhere in Bangkok for ฿200 per trip via Lalamove, and can collect the bike at the end of your rental.
Is insurance included in the rental price?
Yes — third-party liability (TPL) insurance is included free with every rental and covers damage or injury to third parties. For cover on the rental bike itself, Collision Damage Waiver (CDW) costs ฿100/day and caps your liability at a ฿3,000 excess per incident. Without CDW you are responsible for the full repair cost up to the bike's value.
